Our Core Privacy Guarantee

Your calculations are performed in your browser, and your selected dates are not uploaded, logged, or stored by HowUntil. We do not operate a user database, and we do not require account registration.

1. Information We Do Not Collect

When you use any calculator or countdown tool on HowUntil (including Days Until, Weeks Until, Date Difference, Business Days, or the Countdown Generator):

  • We do not transmit your entered start dates or target dates to any server.
  • We do not store your custom event names or countdown titles in a database.
  • We do not ask for your name, email address, password, or payment details.

2. How Shareable Countdowns Work

When you create a shareable countdown using our Countdown Generator, the event name and date are encoded directly into the URL query string (using standard Base64 encoding). When you share that link with others, their browser decodes the data locally. At no point is the link stored on a central server.

3. Web Server Log Files

Like virtually all websites, our hosting servers automatically record standard HTTP request logs (such as your IP address, browser user-agent, referring URL, and timestamp) when you request web pages. These logs are used strictly for security monitoring, DDoS mitigation, and server performance diagnostics, and are automatically rotated and purged.

4. Cookies, Local Storage & Consent

HowUntil minimizes tracking and respects international privacy standards (GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and ePrivacy Directive):

  • We do not set third-party tracking cookies or behavioral profiling cookies without explicit consent.
  • We use local storage strictly to remember your cookie consent preferences and functional UI state.
  • We honor browser-level Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals, automatically defaulting to opt-out when detected.

In the future, HowUntil may display contextual or non-personalized advertisements to support hosting costs.
