Exclusive vs. Inclusive Counting
The standard counting convention in calendar mathematics is exclusive of the starting day. If today is Monday and your event is Tuesday, exactly 1 day remains (not 2). If you were to count Monday as day 1 and Tuesday as day 2, that is known as inclusive counting. HowUntil uses exclusive counting by default and allows users to toggle inclusive counting whenever needed.
Handling Timezones and Daylight Saving Time (DST)
A common pitfall in amateur date calculators is calculating differences between UTC timestamps at midnight. When crossing daylight saving time boundaries (when clocks "spring forward" or "fall back" by 1 hour), a day can have 23 or 25 hours. If a calculator naively divides millisecond differences by 86,400,000 ms, rounding errors can shift the day count by ±1 day.

Leap Year Precision
A Gregorian leap year occurs on years divisible by 4, except for century years not divisible by 400. Whenever a countdown spans February 29th, the date calculation engine automatically includes that 366th day in the total count.
